Situated in a magnificent valley 150 km northwest of Hanoi, Mai Chau is home to the Thai minority people who live in remarkable wooden stilt house. The rolling hills with their beautiful rice terraces are ideal for walking. The verdant and rugged mountain scenery combined with the colourful local population makes this an unforgottable experience. The trip is combined with taking boat trip on Da river.



Day 01: Hanoi- Mai Chau (L, D)

Depart from Hanoi to Mai Chau – an idyllic valley home to many hill tribes including the Dzao, Muong and Thai. Arrive in Mai Chau around noon, check in your room and enjoy lunch.

In the afternoon, cycle to explore Mai Chau beautiful ethnic villages including Na Thia, Nhot, Pom Coong, Lac and Chieng Chau villages. Be welcomed by the friendly local people, talk with them and discover their traditional culture. Total cycling time is around 2 – 3 hours on flat village paths. Take it all in: the spectacular scenery of Mai Chau and the relaxed rhythm of local life.

Back to Mai Chau Ecolodge for dinner. Enjoy a traditional dance show and taste Ruou Can, a local rice wine. Overnight at Mai Chau Ecolodge.

Day 02: Mai Chau (B, L, D)

Enjoy breakfast then transfer by car to Hang Kia (45 minutes), passing villages of Muong and Dzao tribal groups. Stop on the way to visit Pa Co and Xa Linh communes, home to H’mong people with their interesting ethnic market (every Sunday morning in Xa Linh). Arrive in Hang Kia, a typical H’mong village, peacefully nestled in a small valley at 1200m altitude. Have lunch at a local house then walk to discover the community. Transfer back to Mai Chau Ecolodge around 14.pm.

In the afternoon, take part in a weaving class or a cooking class to make Thai traditional dishes such as five color rice or bamboo grilled fish. Overnight at Mai Chau Ecolodge

Day 03: Mai Chau – Hanoi (B, L)

Spend the morning to relax at your pleasure in our natural haven. Check out around 10.am and transfer back to Hanoi. End of the tour.
